We encourage our students to become involved with as many aspects of school life as possible. A wide range of extra-curricular clubs are offered before, during and after school to expand on our already broad curriculum, providing activities that inspire and engage.

Sports Clubs

Opportunities include Cricket, Badminton, Netball, Rounders, Softball, Baseball, Golf, Tennis, Rugby and Football. Students are encouraged to try out new sports and join school sports teams, where available.

Inter-team events promote teamwork and a competitive spirit.

Inter-team Competition

Each student belongs to one of four teams, appropriately named Lords, Twickenham, Wembley and Wimbledon. Inter-team competition events run regularly and are passionately contested (especially amongst staff Team Leaders!). Last year there were numerous inter-team sporting events, staff vs. student competitions and an end-of-year Dance Off!

Personal Challenges

Current opportunities include Sport Stacking, Nails & Beauty, Qwerkle, Lego, Charity, Badminton and Steel Pans. Personal Challenge project choices change regularly throughout the year so there is always something new, different and innovative to try.

Clubs and Studio Time

Opportunities include Breakfast and Twilight Clubs for before and after school socialising, Fashion Club, Live Lounge in the radio station, Art Club and bookable time in the drama studio and music rehearsal rooms.

Trips and Residentials

Individual departments run their own day trips throughout the year, which have included visits to Loughborough University, London theatres, Caterpillar in Desford, Geography field trips and the Somme region in France. Many day trips are free, as we use our own minibuses to keep travel costs down.

The school minibus is available for student trips.

Residential trips have recently included PGL residentials in Liddington, the Opel Coast of France and Disneyland, Paris. Our partnership with the UK Mathematics Trust has also enabled us to send groups of students to German and Italian schools.

This year (2019-20) we are running several end of year residential trips including a three-day stay at the Bushcraft centre in Oxfordshire.
