Dance at Castle Rock is centred around all students being able to experience a range of artistic, social and cultural experiences.

Our Curriculum is performance orientated and puts performance and choreography at the centre of all our lessons. Students work with their peers to explore and create dances based on a number of themes and a within a wide range of different dance styles from around the world. Students also develop the ability to analyse dance through the key components of action, space and dynamics. Not only do students analyse their own and their peers choreography and performances, but they also study professional dances which feed in to the Key Stage Four dance curriculum.

As well as developing skills within performance and choreography, dance at Castle Rock will help students to develop their ability to work with others, their confidence and self-esteem, and promote a healthy lifestyle through physical exercise.

Students will study two topics in Year 7 and 8 and then have the opportunity to choose the Performing Arts option in Year 9 where they can develop their dance skills even further.
