Following a hugely successful and positive open evening at the Castle Rock and King Edward VII campus last night, Thursday 27th of September, many parents shared their delight at our plans for the future of education in Coalville and the surrounding villages. One parent said to Mrs Patrick that ‘The merging of Castle Rock and the vision for age range change is absolutely right for our area and has been a long time coming. As a parent, I am looking forward to it and I know my child feels very secure in knowing that she will have that continuity.’
Another parent talking to Ms Byrne said ‘Staff have been so welcoming and the ethos and atmosphere is so positive and exciting. My daughter enjoyed 2 years in Key Stage 4 and did very well in her GCSEs. She is now thriving in the Sixth Form. I can definitely see all the changes taking place and I really feel it is the right decision for my son in Year 9.’
In addition, a number of parents made enquiries about option choices for Key Stage 4. We are able to share with parents our revised curriculum for 2019 – 2020, which will offer students more flexibility to balance the academic and creative and performance subjects. Information will be posted on the Castle Rock, Newbridge and King Edward VII website from today.
We would like to thank all of the students and parents who attended last night’s open evening and for the overwhelmingly constructive, helpful and positive comments. This school belongs to our community and we value your support.
