Students showed off their impressive culinary skills in this year's finals.
Four budding chefs from Castle Rock took part in the Rotary Young Chef competition on 23rd November, which was held at Newbridge High School. Ben, Jack M, Jack P & Eden each had to design a two course meal for two people costing no more than ten pounds.
They had to consider healthy eating, follow hygiene regulations and even theme their menu, showing this theme with a fully dressed table that emulated this.
Students from Newbridge High School, Ashby Grammar School and Loughborough College all took part with our Jack M winning third place with his "country garden" theme that included chocolate window boxes filled with a white chocolate crème fraiche, raspberries and homemade piped lace flower pancakes.
All four students demonstrated excellent kitchen skills, determination and perseverance in what was an intense competition. The boys prepared for the event by giving up their lunch breaks for the last three weeks so they could practise their techniques and refine their recipes. Well done on such dedication. We are very proud of you all!
