Student wins Sports Award

Chloe receives award from Team GB Paralympian.

The North West Leicestershire Local Sports Alliance Sports Awards were held last Thursday night at Hermitage Leisure Centre. It was an evening for celebrating the amazing achievements of sportsmen and women across the district.

Castle Rock student Chloe B was nominated alongside two others in the Junior Sportswomen of the Year category, in which she was thrilled to be named as the overall winner! The award reflects Chloe's commitment and attitude to sport and we're extremely proud of her.

Chloe is pictured alongside Great British Paralympian Jonathan Broom-Edwards, who talked about his impairment, how he got into sport and his journey to becoming a Paralympian. The evening was hosted by BBC Radio Leicester's Ian Stringer.

Councillor Alison Smith MBE, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for North West Leicestershire District Council, said: "These awards are really important to the people of North West Leicestershire as it is a chance to showcase some of the extraordinary things our sportspeople, clubs and volunteers do that can often go unnoticed. So congratulations to everyone nominated and also to the lucky winners, keep up the good work."
