Alice Hawkins - Suffragette Sculpture

The project was in collaboration with the Co-op and the Hero project. The sculpture is to represent significant local women in history. We chose to create Alice Hawkins who was the founder of the Leicester Suffragettes movement. She fought for equal rights for men and women and represents the 100 year anniversary of 'Votes for Women'. and was jailed a number of times. We chose her because she was a local lady who helped to change history
