SEND

SEND support is a fundamental aspect of the school environment at Castle Rock High School. We endeavour to assist all students to achieve to the best of their ability and help them to overcome barriers to their learning. The SEND department consists of the SENCOs Natalie Crewe and Katie Hawker, Academy Manager Tracey Stanton and a small team of learning support assistants.

The department works with teaching staff, parents and outside agencies to enable all students to access learning in a way that is appropriate to them. We take a person-centred approach to the support and ultimately involve students in every step of supporting and assessing their learning and development needs.

All teachers are teachers of SEND and therefore the high quality teaching in lessons is the first step to enabling all students. Sometimes students will require extra assessment, support and/or agencies – details can be found in the SEN information report and the SEND policy.

All students who are on the SEND register will also have a one page profile (example below) which includes the individual's likes and dislikes and strategies to help support them in lessons.
