Curriculum

You should find a brief description about each subject on the school’s curriculum in this section of our website. These have been written for prospective and existing pupils and parents.

School Curriculum Statement

All pupils, of whatever age, aptitude, attainment level, ability or social circumstances, are entitled to education of a high quality, which we aim to provide. Education is of value for its own sake and all pupils are positively encouraged to learn at school, outside school and throughout their lives.

Castle Rock High School curriculum and extra-curricular activities recognises individual pupils needs and abilities and supports the development of intellectual, cultural, moral, aesthetic, spiritual, physical and social qualities. The curriculum aims to be broad, balanced and relevant, so that our pupils are able to become responsible and informed members of their local, national and international communities.

School Aims

The Staff and Governors of Castle Rock High School are committed to providing an education of the highest quality for all pupils and to creating a school which is viewed as a centre of excellence in the local community.

To satisfy these aspirations:

  • We will have the highest expectations of all pupils and value and acknowledge their achievements.
  • We will ensure that all pupils have access to the full curriculum and that they begin to take responsibility for their own learning.
  • We will provide a happy, safe, well-ordered and stimulating learning environment.
  • We will provide well equipped learning areas and quality resources.
  • We will foster respect, care, tolerance across the school community.
  • We will help and encourage our pupils to become responsible members of their local, national and international communities.
  • We will monitor our practices and modify them to continually improve the services we provide for our customers.
  • Our aims are reviewed regularly by all Staff and Governors working together.
